I think it is safe to assume that everyone has seen at least one of the many murals Greensboro has scattered through town. If not, well, get out and look literally anywhere! I think it is also safe to assume that not many of you know the origins behind it—Action Greensboro.
Action Greensboro, or the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, is a business organization that serves the town’s many vendors. It holds a variety of events like networking and food truck meetups but is also responsible for the Downtown Greenway. The murals across the city are also a project started by Action Greensboro with currently over 150 pieces of public artwork throughout our community. There were many artists that collaborated to help this happen.

I was able to ask local Greensboro artist, Raman Bhardwaj, a few questions about his process. The mural was the first he has done on this scale and was originally a smaller painting based on dancers’ graceful movements. The entire mural took about three days to complete on a 20-foot-high wall. Raman used latex paint instead of acrylic to cut down on cost and implied a grid system along with a projector to get the outline down. He then used rollers, spray paint, paint guns and one by five-foot-wide flat brushes to color the mural. You can see his amazing work yourself at the Westover Gallery of Shop!
