Just this past week, our school had homecoming week. It was a very eventful time with many amazing activities. One of these events was the “Fabulous 50s Food and Fun.” It was a shock when coming down to eat dinner after class. I walked down and was surprised by all the decorations that were on display. This took place in the Fowler Dining Hall and everyone was welcomed by the cardboard cutout of a 50s diner waitress and the checkerboard floor.
When walking in, you could see music – from one side of the room to the other. Records were everywhere. They were on the ceiling, near the TVs and on the lights. A big thank you goes to the admissions team as they got involved by making milkshakes for the students. The line never died down from there as everyone was wanting one.
Another thing that people got involved with was the Cadillac photo booth. They got to sit in a pink Cadillac while using the many props next to the booth and acting out for the camera. This was a very popular part of the experience. Many people would come in groups to sit and strike some cool poses.

One piece that really stuck out to me were the record posts that had the vinyl pieces sticking to a pipe and the records themselves. If you looked up at the lights, you would notice that they were real records. The record posts could be seen on each side of the room and were very intriguing pieces to add to the environment.
This was an amazing event to be part of. I know that I enjoyed what was offered and displayed around me. This was a great start to homecoming week, and it only got better from there.
