Raise your right fingers and bring your Burn Books—”Mean Girls” has come again. The musical reboot of the 2004 film with the same title stars Renee Rapp, Angourie Rice and Tina Fey, and is the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, “Mean Girls.”
When it comes to a classic like this movie, it can be a hit-or-miss situation when people make a reboot of it. A lot of reviews compare this to the original and the musical, but this will be an unbiased review. To really enjoy this film, you have to view it not as a reboot or reimagining, but as its own creation. A few people from the original film make appearances which adds some remembrance to the film that laid the foundation for this one. Some of the actors you will see include Tina Fey and Tim Meadows returning as their original characters.
One thing I liked about this movie was how modern they made it. Most gossip is passed through the internet in this day and age, and it is used very well throughout the movie.
This film is great. Every character is fun to watch on screen and you care for each of the
characters the filmmakers want you to care for. The story progresses at a good pace, and the music does a good job at helping set that pace. Not all the songs from the Broadway musical are in this film, however, so if you do not hear your favorite song in this movie, that is why.
The star of the film is Renee Rapp as Regina George. Rapp as that character is one of the best castings in the movie—she demands what Regina would want and steals the scene she is in with her presence. Renee Rapp really knew how to embody this character, and she nailed it. The whole cast overall did amazing in their roles; they were able to play their characters well and sing their songs beautifully.
I highly recommend that you watch this “Mean Girls” reboot if you get the chance. In some ways, you might be able to relate to what happens, or else you may just want to watch a good and funny film. In either case, this version of Mean Girls is definitely a good choice.
