Greensboro, NC is found directly in the center of the Triad and ranks 27 among 148 US city rankings. Whether you are from Greensboro or not, it is very easy to feel at home in this city. The dense suburban feel for people settling in or the many activities in store for people who are traveling in and out can be very attractive. For the people who are new to the area and want to learn more about what Greensboro has to offer, this article is for you.
Greensboro has many places scattered around the city that you could consider as areas of interest. One of these being The Steven Tanger Center. This performance and arts center has hosted many concerts and Broadway plays for people who enjoy the performing arts. If that is your cup of tea, then this is the perfect place for you. Greensboro also has more performance arts centers such as the Dyke Performance Space and the Greensboro Cultural Center.

Greensboro is also known for its engagement in the Civil Rights Movement. Almost 75 years later, a Civil Rights Museum sits in the heart of downtown Greensboro to remember the nonviolent protest of the “Greensboro Four” that occurred at a lunch counter at a well-known restaurant at the time. If you are interested in learning more about the history of Greensboro and the city’s contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, definitely come check this place out.

Besides performance and arts centers and history museums, Greensboro has many other different forms of entertainment. One of these being the Greensboro Science Center. Since 1957, The Greensboro Science Center has been a place of interest for children and adults. Recently expanding in 2021, the center has undergone a severe revamp for more fun to be had. The Greensboro Science Center has a big zoo, an aquarium and other attractions for you to check out and enjoy for a fairly cheap admission cost.

While some people enjoy a more tourist feel when it comes to Greensboro, some like to come and enjoy the many shopping venues in the area. The two main ones in Greensboro is the Four Seasons Mall and the Friendly Shopping Center. Being built in 1974, Four Seasons Mall houses many mainstream shops and has many entertainment options such as a movie theatre and an all-out bowling alley and arcade. The Friendly Center, located just about 10 minutes from campus, was built in 1957 but has had a very large revamp in 2015, and has many more self-owned shops along with mainstream stores as well. Greensboro also has many more self-owned stores in the heart of its downtown area.
Greensboro is also home to the second largest single-seat arena in the US and the sixth largest in the world. Whether it be concerts, monster trucks, a circus or the famous ACC tournament for collegiate sports, the popular Greensboro Coliseum always hosts fun events and entertains people in many different ways. Recently as well, Vice President Kamala Harris made a visit to this place as part of her campaigning for this year’s presidential election. Make sure you check out the Greensboro Coliseum website to be aware of all of the events that they are hosting.
Greensboro also has a very appeasing nature aspect to it. With many parks throughout the city, Greensboro can offer many places to just sit down and relax. Some of these being LeBauer Park, Center City Park and Lake Daniel Park. Greensboro has also undergone the creation of a greenway for people who want to enjoy the views and nature the city gives.
