As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, several standout college players are poised to make a significant impact at the next level. Here are three prospects generating buzz:
1. Ashton Jeanty – Running Back, Boise State
Ashton Jeanty has emerged as one of the most dynamic running backs in college football. With a remarkable 2,601 rushing yards in the 2024 season, he nearly matched Barry Sanders’ single-season record, giving Jeanty a mid-major Heisman campaign we’ll never forget. On top of all that, he led the Boise State Broncos to a 12-2 record and a berth in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals. NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah describes Jeanty as a combination of Dalvin Cook and J.K. Dobbins, highlighting his elite burst and vision. Braeln Crowder, a member of the Greensboro College football team, said, “Ashton was my Heisman winner this year and the most dynamic player in college football last year. After being snubbed from this title, I am excited to see him shock the world on Sundays.”
2. Luther Burden III – Wide Receiver, Missouri
Luther Burden III has demonstrated exceptional skills as a wide receiver for the University of Missouri. Known for his agility and ability to make defenders miss, he has drawn comparisons to Stefon Diggs. Though Missouri seemed to underachieve following their success in the 2023-2024 season as Cotton Bowl champs, Luther took advantage of the national spotlight and placed himself among the top wide receiver prospects in the draft. Another member of the Pride football team, Dallas Fox, said, “Burden is one of the most explosive receivers we’ve seen since the 2019 draft, which included some of the league’s best, such as Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase. I think he could be that type of player.”
3. Abdul Carter – Linebacker, Penn State
Coming off an unbelievable season that ended in a loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl and College Football Playoff Semifinal, Abdul Carter has been recognized as a top linebacker prospect, praised for his elite burst off the line and ability to disrupt offensive game plans. His standout performances have solidified his position as a leading defensive prospect in the draft. Jeremiah Patron, another member of the Greensboro squad, says, “Abdul is a dog coming from a long bloodline of Penn State and Big Ten defenses. He fits the mold, and he is ready to make an impact on day one.”
With all eyes on Detroit for the 2025 NFL Draft, these three players—Jeanty, Burden, and Carter—represent the best of what college football had to offer this past season. Their talent, leadership, and work ethic have not only earned them national recognition but also the respect of players across all levels of the game. As future franchises look to build their rosters, these prospects have the potential to become instant cornerstones. Whether it is Jeanty electrifying the backfield, Burden burning defenders deep, or Carter wreaking havoc on defense, each of them is ready to leap from Saturdays to Sundays. Football fans and scouts alike should buckle up—this draft class is shaping up to be something special.
