Fans across Greensboro gathered at the Greensboro Coliseum on October 4 and 5 for Big Lick Comic Con. This convention hosted many big names from the pop culture, wrestling and cosplaying fandoms. These included Catherine Sutherland, Nakia Burrise, Johnny Yong Bosch, Paul Schier and Jason Narvy from the Power Rangers cast. Scott Innes, who is best known for voicing Scooby-Doo, was in attendance. Wrestlers that were present were SGT. Slaughter, Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy.

GC student David Slifer attended and was fortunate enough to have met and talked with the Power Rangers cast and Lou Ferrigno, the original Incredible Hulk. Many of them still continue to act while others now are doing different forms of performing. Bosch does mostly voice acting. Narvy continues to act but is also an acting professor at East Stroudsburg University.

Outside of the well-known guests, there was a phenomenal variety of vendors at this convention. The vendors ranged from comic writers, comic artists, cosplayers, souvenirs and much more. Many of the vendors were local businesspeople who you might be able to find in Greensboro. If you walked around, you might have noticed some collector’s items. These might include rare first editions, artwork and more.

Casey Pate heard about the event and were interested as cosplaying is something they love doing.
“I love any opportunity to dress up! Especially if I get to go with my friends,” they said. The big stand out for them was the small business that were present.
“I love shopping,” Pate said. “Especially from small businesses. Or local artists. I love getting to see everyone’s creativity.”
They, along with many others, had a great time, with Pate later saying that they would go again.
Jake Fogg, who is a well-known cosplayer, was there as Thor on the fourth and Superman on the fifth, with Superman being his most popular cosplay. Dressing as the Man of Tomorrow he also does work with Christopher Reeve Foundation whose mission is to find a cure for spinal cord injuries. Going around as Superman is his way of spreading word about the foundation and what they do.

If you did not like this convention, you would definitely find something you like right around the corner. Pop Culture has an enormous fan base and everyone who goes to conventions like this can connect with one another.
Big Lick Comic Con was a success and a fun experience. Organizers have announced its return to Greensboro in 2026 and we can not wait for it.
