As the fall semester wraps up, Greensboro College athletics had some great seasons across multiple programs, showcasing resilience, standout performances, and many memorable moments for student-athletes in the USA South Conference. From volleyball’s historic run to conference semifinals appearance for women’s soccer, fall 2025 was a great year for Pride athletics.
Women’s Volleyball
The Pride women’s volleyball team had a historic regular season, finishing with a 24-2 overall record and a perfect 16-0 record in conference play. Their 21-match winning streak set a program record, earning them the No. 1 seed in the USA South Tournament. Greensboro advanced to the championship match but fell short to Southern Virginia in a hard-fought battle.

Women’s volleyball ended the year with a plethora of individual awards. Payton Shiflet received USA South Player of the Year and all-conference honors. Morgan Mayfield was Libero of the Year and also received all-conference honors. Dan Bozarth won Coach of the Year in his first season. Taylor Cotie and Jaylyn Templeton received all-conference second-team honors and Grace Young made the all-sportsmanship team.
“I think we had a really great season,” Shiflet said. “We put in the work from day one and I think it’s shown throughout the season. We grew as a team and played together all year, and I’m so proud of what we accomplished!”
Men’s Soccer
The men’s soccer team had an exciting season, finishing with an 8-6-4 overall record and a 3-3-1 conference mark, which is a nice improvement from last season. They secured the No. 4 seed in the USA South Tournament and hosted a first-round playoff match against Methodist, ultimately falling 1-0 in overtime.

Key victories included a come-from-behind 2-1 win over William Peace to clinch home-field advantage and a 3-1 conference win over Southern Virginia.
Gustav Ohman received all-conference honors and Rookie of the Year.
“This season was great,” Ohman said. ”It has been an honor to meet these guys and play with them. Although this season went great, I think it could’ve gone even better, but it makes me very excited for next season.”
Kalle Hermansson received all-conference honors along with Mika Rudel. David Stipuric also made the all-sportsmanship team.
Football
The Pride football team had a challenging but competitive season in the USA South. They won the Soup Bowl this season with a 21-7 win over Guilford College. They ended the season on a high note winning back-to-back wins over NC Wesleyan and Methodist.

KJ Brown, Frank Walker and Deshaun Holmes received all-conference honors. Will Pailthorpe was an honorable mention and Coy Davis made the all-sportsmanship team.
“Although the season didn’t go our way when you look at it in the win column, I could not have asked for a better group of guys and coaches to be around for my senior year,” Pailthrope said. “This was a very special group, and I can’t wait to see how the program keeps developing and improving in the next couple of years.”
Men’s Golf
The men’s golf team began the fall season with a competitive showing at the Transylvania Fall Invitational, finishing 7th out of 19 teams. Individual golfer Watcharakan Chankarn impressed by shooting six under par in the opener.

The fall season has come to a close with the O’Briant/Jensen Memorial Tournament, but it was cut short due to rain only playing one round. With a promising start to fall, the spring season holds a lot of hope.
Women’s Soccer
Greensboro College women’s soccer capped off the fall season with a strong run in the USA South, finishing with an 11-7-2 record and advancing to the second round of the conference tournament.

Kendall Kamm and Shae Brennan received all-conference honors and Camryn Marcondes and Claire Friedlander were honorable mentions. Hilary Graley also made the all-sportsmanship team.
With a promising core returning next season, the Pride enter 2026 looking to build off the success of this season.
Looking Ahead
The fall of 2025 highlighted Greensboro College’s commitment to athletic achievement. This has been a fall of success and growth for Pride and the winter sports will look to have continued success. Men’s and Women’s basketball have started their seasons along with Men’s and Women’s wrestling.
