Greensboro men’s basketball update

By Aidan Eller

After a roller-coaster season last year where the team went through multiple coaching changes, the Pride have now found their head coach for the foreseeable future in Michael McDuffie. He is a Greensboro College alum and became the 16th head coach in the school’s history in April 2025 after serving as interim head coach late last season. During this time, he helped lead the Pride to their second straight USA South Conference Tournament appearance. The team showed a significant jump after he took the role, winning three of its last four games. He is a former player for the Pride playing from 2005–2009; he knows what the expectations are for Greensboro College basketball and looks to bring the success he had as a player into this head coaching role.

This season has been a big improvement over the last year. The team posted a 6-20 record overall last season. We have not even reached the end of the season, and the win total is up to nine. With two key conference games left, the Pride look to push that up into double digits. There has also been a huge change in pace for this team. McDuffie plays a faster brand of basketball, and it shows in the stats. Points per game have had a huge jump from 62.8 to 79.1 showing the change in identity for this team.

Speaking of new identity, the Pride sees some new faces this year impacting the stat sheet. Dwight Vincent, Quamir Ingram and Will Gray have played a huge role in the success of this team and provide depth and athleticism. Quamir Ingram headlines the year with a 50-point game, second most in school history in his first college game ever. A familiar face in DJ Jackson leads the conference in points per game at 18.7 making a real push for player of the year in USA South. These players have all been a huge part of improving the record this year and hopefully helping to build a culture of winning here at Greensboro College.

With the end of the season getting closer, come out and help support our men’s basketball as they prepare for the conference tournament.
