A 5K run for GC

By Dallas Fox

It is time for the annual Give4GC festivities once again. Get your sneakers ready and stretch your legs. On Saturday, April 11, at 9 a.m., join Greensboro College students, staff, faculty, alum and supporters for a 5K run to raise money for the college. Whether you walk, jog or race to the finish line, you will have lots of fun in this exciting event.

“A couple of friends and I recently picked up running as a small hobby, so when we heard about this 5K we were super excited,” says senior Xypher Pino. “This is the perfect opportunity to get active while also giving back to a place that has helped me grow so much.”

If GC holds a special place in your heart, then go ahead and mark April 11 on your calendars. Rain or shine, the 5K will occur. This race is not about who finishes first or last, nor is it about running or walking – this 5K is about coming together as one. Let us build a stronger community and form lasting connections with one another.

For those planning to compete in this event, make sure that you adequately prepare for this event. Eat smart – the night before, consume carbohydrates and proteins, and make sure that you eat the morning of the race. Make sure you drink plenty of water and wear clothes that you are already comfortable with. During the actual race, pace yourself by using people
around you and do not push yourself too hard.

All proceeds collected during this event will go towards supporting GC’s efforts in enhancing student experiences. To register for the event, there is a $25 fee, but it comes with a race bib and a T-shirt. To those that cannot make it in person but still want to support and a shirt, there is a $30 fee, and you will receive your shirt in the mail.
