GC dodgeball tournament

The Greensboro College West Residential Advisors (RAs) and the Kinesiology Club recently hosted an exciting dodgeball tournament, bringing students together for a night of energy and friendly competition. Although the turnout was smaller than expected, the event eventually turned into an RA vs. Kinesiology Club dodgeball tournament.

Four teams competed, with each team consisting of five players. The players of the winning team were awarded Chick-fil-A gift cards. The energy inside Hanes Gymnasium was high, with students cheering, laughing and enjoying every moment of the tournament.

Kinesiology Club president, Bethany McQuinn, spoke about the turnout of the event and how she believes it impacted student engagement on campus.

“The dodgeball tournament went well,” McQuinn said. “We did not have the turnout we were expecting, but it was a super fun event. I think the engagement is super important as we close out the semester to keep student morale up!”

Residential Advisor Logan Vacharasin also reflected on the turnout and offered ideas for future improvement.

“The turnout of the dodgeball tournament was very minimal. To improve engagement next year, I think we should lean into the athletics department, maybe trying to promote some events as team bonding could be good for engagement.”

Looking ahead, the Kinesiology Club will continue its efforts to engage students on campus by hosting a wellness fair in April in efforts to promote health, wellness and student involvement. The event will take place outside the cafeteria during lunch hours.
