I think there should be a cost to attend Greensboro College sporting events. There are benefits for charging outside spectators to enter sporting events like helping with building or improving athletic facilities. I think charging could also help with athletes’ confidence when outside people are paying to see you at your craft.
I spoke to some classmates who disagree with charging to attend sporting events. One of my friends enjoys the no cost to attend sporting events because he does not have the extra money to pay for events. There are also people like my grandparents in the community who also enjoy being able to attend sporting events without a cost. One suggestion is to have people who attend sporting events have the option to offer a donation instead of a mandatory cost. I think there should be student and staff discounts if there is a cost.
Currently, Greensboro does not charge to attend sporting events. I think there should be a charge. Even at the high school level, fans pay to attend sporting events. The money can be helpful to the school and build athlete’s confidence. Sporting events at the college level should not be free and the money could help build more sporting facilities, such as a baseball field, which GC currently not having its own. With a new baseball field, the baseball and softball teams can play and practice on campus. If there were a cost to enter sporting events, there would be more respect placed on our sports team. Charging for sporting events can bring money to the school that can be used for a number of things. I think Greensboro College should consider charging for sporting events and if it does not pan out, then we could always go back to not charging.
