Sushi lovers should be on the lookout for this newest sushi place on Tate Street. Kazoku Japanese Restaurant is a must try with its amazing dishes and customer service. The restaurant is located right under the Upper Deck at 948 Walker Ave #B, Greensboro, which is close by for any GC student looking for a new place to dine.
The customer service at Kazoku is the first thing I would first bring attention to – it was incredible. The first time I went there, it was late at night but we were seated rather quickly and were given waters to drink while we looked over the menu. As it was our first time there, my friend Sydney Patton and I had many questions about the menu, but all of our questions were answered with understanding and patience. Throughout the night, we were checked on periodically just to make sure that everything was alright and if we needed anything else. Our dishes came out relatively quickly as well, with it just taking a total of 15 minutes to get to us.
“The customer service was fantastic and very speedy too,” said sophomore business major Patton about the experience with the service. “We were seated and given our food very quickly but I did not feel rushed to pay or leave. Price wise, it was a little more on the expensive side, but the quality of the food makes up for it.”
Now, I also got to experience the restaurant on a busy day, Valentine’s Day and, needless to say, the service still did not disappoint. I went with Marlowe Koos this time around as one, a way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and two, a way for me to re-experience the wonderful dishes I had the night before. Despite the restaurant being nearly packed, we were seated within less than five minutes, and the service had been just as polite and timely as the night before.
Now, a restaurant sadly cannot just work based on its customer service, however, the food was able to speak for itself in that regard.
Both times I went, I got the Bushido spirit, a delicious roll made with spicy crab meat, avocado tempura flakes, sesame seeds and eel to top. This combination leaves a savory taste with no overpowering flavors. This dish cost $13 and you were given eight decently sized rolls. Now, as a broke college student, I know the value of a dollar, and I would have to say that a dollar would be well used on this impeccable roll.
“It was so good – everything tasted fantastic and the fish tasted fresh,” Patton said about the sushi.
The presentation of the dish was also incredible, with a little flower tower being presented with every roll.

This restaurant recently came to Tate Street after winter break and has already seemed to have a few students here at GC in a chokehold. So, the next time you have family visiting or have a few extra dollars to treat yourself, Kazoku offers an amazing dining experience.
