The Greensboro College Women’s Basketball team has been on a six game winning streak. The Greensboro College team’s winning streak started during its match against Mary Baldwin College on January 29th. The score was 74 to 25. Kamerin Williams finished with a team high of 12 points, and Gregory and Smalls chipped in with 10 points each. Kylee Barry finished with nine points, and Courtney Pearsall made eight rebounds. After the game, Assistant Reggie Hines said, “We were able to come out and establish the pace early in the game, today was a good chance for us to get some more players involved in the game, while allowing them to get some more experience on the college level.”
Greensboro College Women’s basketball had a game the next day against Ferrum College and won 48-46. Ferrum College was unbeaten in the USA South Athletic Conference; the win was Head Coach Randy Tuggle’s 138th win. This achievement tied him with Jason Tuggle for the most coaching wins in the program. During the game Marla Crawford finished with a team high of 13 points, while Smalls had a “double-double” of 10 points and 14 rebounds.
On February 1st, the Pride defeated William Peace University 68-58. After the game, Tuggle said, “Our girls played really hard tonight and was able to come away with a big win. I know that we may have started out slow but we were able to rebound late in the game.” Rasheika Gregory finished with a game high of 22 points, while Lewis and Crawford both made double-digit points.
On Saturday February 4th, the Pride beat Averett University 61-55. Courtney Pearsall had a team high of 16 points and seven rebounds. Williams finished with 12 points, whereas Katie Lewis had 10 points. “Courtney stepped up big for us today and had a great game,” Tuggle said. “We did pretty well as a team in most areas but we struggled on the defensive glass. We are continuing to move forward, and this was a great win for us.”
On Sunday, February 5th, the pride played Meredith College and won 60-53. The game was back-and-forth until the Pride gained the lead in the fourth quarter and kept widening it. Then, they played Mid Atlantic Christian College and won 65-53 giving them a six game winning streak. Kamerin Williams had a “double-double” with a team high of 13 points and 15 rebounds. Courtney Pearsall had 12 points and Monica Smalls finished with 4 points and 10 rebounds. The Pride will return, playing the last two games of the regular season against North Carolina Wesleyan College and Sunday Methodist University.
